We hope to share our ‘casa’ with people who, like us, take care of what is entrusted to them. Tenants who reside in Casa El Jinete with the same gentleness, as if it were their own place for a while.
Rik en Rika
West Flemish through and through. Almost retired.
At a time in our lives when time for each other is becoming increasingly important, we went looking for a place under the Spanish sun.
A place where peace is a matter of course, where nature and water are never far away, and where life is allowed to move just a little bit slower.
We found that place in Casa El Jinete. A large and bright apartment, located in a small, intimate urbanization, discreet and quiet, surrounded by open space and nature.
Casa El Jinete was furnished with great care and love, so that it is not just a place to stay, but truly a place to come home to. Light, comfort, space, and a warm atmosphere were central to this.
The name of our ‘casa’ carries a personal story. Our family name Deruyter has traveled with us for generations, as have our three children Jelle, Daan, and Fien. ‘Padre’ Rik was a passionate horseman during his youth. But professionally, he has also been a rider all his life: always on the move but always with both feet on the ground. That is how our house got its name: El Jinete, Spanish for “the rider”.
Casa ‘El Jinete’ is thus a subtle nod to who we are, our family, to movement and freedom, and to the path that brought us here.
In this phase of our lives, where work is still part of our days, we enjoy sharing this place with others. With people who long for sun and space, for silence and simplicity.
Casa El Jinete is there for those who want to spend the winter, but just as much for those who want to experience spring and summer in their full beauty.
In spring, nature awakens around us. The landscape turns fresh and green, the temperatures are mild and inviting. Ideal for long walks, quiet bike rides, and days where you live outdoors without haste.
The summer brings plenty of light and warmth, long days and balmy evenings. The water provides cooling, and villages and towns come to life with local festivals, markets, and music.
And there is always the tranquility of Casa El Jinete to return to.
The immediate surroundings invite discovery: on foot or by bicycle along nature and water, through landscapes that never cease to amaze. Nearby are charming Spanish towns and hidden gems, where culture and history are tangible, where you can get lost in narrow streets, settle on a terrace, enjoy local dishes, shops, and markets. Life here is simple and rich at the same time. Here you can taste the real Spain.
